The village of coconut broom in Cam Thinh Dong village just few years ago still operating scattered, small with a few households by profession. However, with the timely support of the funds of the Farmer Assistance Fund, the village has made a strong development. Coconut broom products have been present all over the country.

Le Huu Ngan, Chairman of the Farmer Association of Cam Thinh Dong Commune, said: In the beginning, in the commune, only few households know how to make coconut broom, after each rice crop, people make use of time to spare. income. Gradually many small businesses to order, from which the village was born. Relatives passed from generation to generation. At present, there are 12 households in the whole commune, with over 60 labors and average income of 4-5 million VND / person / month. Each year, Cam Thinh Dong Commune provides 18,000-20,000 brooms. It is noteworthy that coconut broom production has almost everyone, from children to old people, depending on the different stages.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nga - a coconut broom worker said, coconut broom making business is not difficult to learn. Fast learners only study 2-3 hours is to master, the hard is to have capital to produce. Previously, the source of raw materials from coconut leaves to make brooms in many localities, now have to buy from the Ben Tre province, Binh Dinh for 5000 - 7000 per kg. According to Le Xuan Hoang - Chairman of Cam Ranh Farmers Association, coconut broom making environmentally friendly, making use of local materials, creating jobs for many workers. Thanks to the job, the number of poor households has decreased significantly.

At present, the city has established a coconut broom association in Cam Thinh Dong commune. The Farmers' Association of Ho Chi Minh City has provided VND100 million in preferential loans from the Farmer Assistance Fund. Loans have been expanded to include more households involved in vocational training.
